ABOUT US: FROM THE BEGINNING



In 1973, Paul Darden graduated first in class, Magna Cum Laude with an Architectural Engineering Degree from The University of Texas at Austin. While attending studying architecture, Paul Darden was elected by his fellow students as the President of Tau Beta Pi, the national engineering honor society. During the next twenty years he has administered the development of over 1,000,000 square feet of commercial construction, the infrastructure for many major residential and commercial projects, and over 1,200 single-family lots. Mr. Darden was responsible for the construction of the fifteen office-building Timberline Office Park in Austin, Texas. In developing the Finistera subdivision in Tucson, Arizona for the Darion Corporation, Paul Darden was awarded the 1983 Gold Award by the National Homebuilders and Apartment Builders Association for the Best Marketing Brochure. Between 1988 and 1991, as the Construction Project Administrator for the Dallas County Community College District, Mr. Darden was responsible for the construction of nine major building and renovation projects totaling $22,000,000 throughout the seven campus complexes of the District.

In April 2005 Paul opened his AA Storage @ Fair Park in Little Rock, Arkansas. The 43,000 NRA facility leased to 90% occupancy in 7 months. Mr. Darden was responsible for the design and construction of A-Absolute Self Storage on Inwood Road in Dallas, Texas, and the remodel of the I-35 Self Storage in Denton, Texas, and the expansion of Friendly Self Storage in Grand Prairie, Texas. He has consulted upon the design and construction of over fourteen other self-storage projects. Storage Facilities LLC, a Paul Darden corporation, owned, managed and sold A-1 Mini Storage in Dallas, Texas. Mr. Darden also formed the Deer Creek Mini Storage Ltd. Partnership in September 1999, and purchased a 306 unit self-storage facility in Crowley, TX.. Paul is looking for joint ventures with land owners, and other development opportunities.

Paul W. Darden is the President of the Paul Darden Company, which specializes in the brokering, marketing, feasibility studies, and developing of self-storage. Mr. Darden has been actively involved in real estate brokerage and development for twenty-five years in the Texas, Oklahoma, and Arizona markets. In his brokerage capacity, Mr. Darden has personally brokered over 130 self-storage facilities throughout the southwest to both national and regional self-storage operators. His clients have included U-Haul, Sovran, Shurgard, U-Store-It, Securcare, Assured Self Storage, Storage Trust and many others. In 1997 Paul Darden was the largest self-storage broker in the United States in terms of the number of facilities sold.

Paul Darden is also the President of Darden Interests, Inc., which specializes in third party management of self-storage facilities. Over the past 14 years, the firm has managed over 43 self-storage facilities in the Dallas, Fort Worth, Austin, San Antonio and Little Rock areas. In 2006, his firm was rated as one of the top 50 Operators in the self-storage industry. Mr. Darden is an active member of both the Texas Self Storage Association and the national Self Storage Association. Paul Darden has been a guest speaker at many Texas and national self-storage conventions, and he has written several articles for various self-storage publications. Mr. Darden has also testified for both plaintiffs and defendants as an expert witness in three lawsuits involving self-storage, in both the state and federal district courts.
